Those of us who use makeup need to wear black (and sometimes brown) Eyeliner because it's how it's always been done. And because usually we only wear makeup for work or a glam night out.
Doing anything out of the ordinary for those two looks can make us feel weird and anxious. Sometimes we’ll worry that different makeup choices will be judged and stop us from doing them.
And so, the trend seems like a waste of time because we’ll never use it.

Brighten’s the eye area.
Black and dark brown eyeliner, whilst classic, can take away from the brightness in the eye area because of how dark it is. It can exaggerate dark areas and be a bit too edgy for particular looks.
White eyeliner, whether in the inner corner or as the wing, brightens the eye area.
This is due to how bright it is. It tricks the mind (or those looking at you) that your eye area is brighter, plus it covers up redness, which takes away from the imperfections in the eye area, which adds to the effect!

Then the white on the lower lash line looks like it's extending the white of the eyeball, and so because it's extending the space of the whites of the eye, it makes your eyes look bigger without anyone noticing.
And some people love it because larger eyes are related to the idea of youthfulness. Plus, bigger eyes (at least in the media) means you’ll look cuter, which is what some people want from their makeup.
Why is it trending now?
So, with the belief that white eyeliner has all the benefits, it is difficult to use. Mainly in everyday looks. Why is white eyeliner now trending? Which beauty YouTuber decided to make a video?
And for once, this isn’t a trend caused by a YouTuber! White eyeliner has become trendy due to Dior!
At the bottom of the lash line was a winged white eyeliner look. And because of how it brightened the face and how out there it was, everyone loved it.
Tips for the application
You can get it in gel, pencil, and liquid form. However, the formula is usually very transparent when you get liquid eyeliner in different colours other than black and brown. After a while, the formula becomes flaky and quickly falls off the eye and waterline areas.
At least in our experience.
So we recommend using gel or pencil. We also recommend putting some brown eyeliner over it once the white eyeliner has dried.
Because if you turn up to work with something too bright, it’ll look weird (unless you want that, in which case, go for it!)
So, to get the brightening effect and not seem too outlandish, put brown over it as it’ll look more natural.
